I will also be sending a reminder sheet home with the students on Monday.
What we will be learning this week!
In Math we are continuing our unit on Place Value. We will be building numbers from 11-99 using base ten blocks and units. We will also begin using our math journals in the morning and learning how to think through word problems. During Language Arts we will be focusing on S-family blends. In Writing, we will continue learning about writing Narratives in 1st grade. We have finished our unit on Weather in Science so this week we are moving into Social Studies. We will be learning about our first American Hero, Benjamin Franklin. We will visit the Media center on Wednesday so please remember to have your child return their library book. On Monday we will have Super Specials. This means the children will have Specials twice on Monday and no Specials on Tuesday. The children will have Art and PE. With that being said our lunch time has changed on Monday. We will be eating from 11:45 -12:15.
From the Foundation:
Do you want to see Mrs. Hallmark and Mr. Cohen be on the roof top? Or maybe KISS A PIG! or even get taped to a wall? You can and will if we make our Foundation goals. Please consider donating to our Foundation. Any amount is welcomed and it's for a great cause. One of the biggest benefits from Foundation is our Science Lab and Mrs. Knobbe and you know how much your child LOVES the Science Lab. Also, the classroom with the most donations will receive an IPad for the classroom! Deadly for donations is September 9th. Thank you!

Reminders about Homework:
Everyone has done an amazing job with homework this past week. Many of
them did the entire page which was fantastic! Just a few things to
remember...
1.They should be doing a Spelling Activity each night. Rather than mark
it on the Menu sheet have them write the activity done next to their
work
2. Please make sure they are doing their homework in pencil unless it is part of the Spelling Activity
3. Encourage them to use as much as one page as possible. Neatly of
course :) We need the notebook to last as long as possible :)
4. The Spelling words will be listed on my Blog each week for easy reference.
If you have any additional questions regarding homework don't hesitate to contact me.
