What is your child learning this week?
In Math, we will begin working that the addition of three, one digit numbers ( 9+1+3). Students will be reviewing the making a 10 strategy to solve these equations. In social studies, we will continue our unit on Harriet Tubman. So far, students have been extremely engaged and interested in learning about her life! During our writing time. we will continue to focus on opinion writing. Towards the end of the week, students will have the opportunity to participate in a "tasty" opinion writing :). I will continue to pull my reading groups each day to focus on reading strategies and comprehension. Please remember, the expectation for students reading level at the end of this quarter is a level G. If you know this is a area your students struggles, please be diligent to read with them for at least 20min each night.
Addition Timed Tests
Just a reminder the last day for students to take their addition timed test will be Friday February 3rd. We will then begin our subtraction timed tests Monday February 6th. Just like the addition tests, students will have an opportunity to win another gumball machine for their subtraction facts 0-10. These tests will be taken three times a week until the end of the school year. If I see that your child is struggling with a specific test over and over I will send home an additional copy and request that they practice at home.
