Week of January 11-13
Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed a few extra days off and had fun playing in the snow!
**If you have not returned your child's report card envelope or inclement weather form please do as soon as possible**

What is Your Child Learning this Week?
In Math we will begin our unit on adding and subtracting both one more/one less and 10 more/ 10 less. By the end of our unit, students will be expected to do this mentally and fluently. In Social Studies we will be learning all about location. This will include learning about our planet, continent, country, state, county, city, and address. Students must know where they live so please practice this with them at home. There is a spot at the front of your child's agenda that would be a great place to write this down for their reference. During our writing time this week we will be reviewing how to sequence events and begin our Hero writing. This week and for the rest of the year we will be working hard in our reading groups. It is extremely important that students are fluent readers by the end of 1st grade. If you know this is an area your child struggles, please be diligent to read with them for 20 minutes every night. We will end this week by learning about Martin Luther King to correspond with our three day weekend to observe him.
