February 12th-16th

What is your child learning this week?
One more week until February Break! This week in Reading students will continue to participate in the different Daily 5 Centers while I pull reading groups to work on comprehension and fluency. As a reminder, students should be reading on a level G by the end of this quarter so please continue to help them practice there reading each night. In Social Studies we will continue learning about Theodore Roosevelt. Students will get to visit the Learning Commons to conduct research on his impact regarding our countries National Parks. During Math we will continue to practice adding and subtracting multiples of 10 as well as adding single digit numbers to double digit numbers using regrouping. In Writing students will finish up their "Hey, Little Ant" opinion pieces.

Classroom Event Reminders:
Wednesday February 14th --> Valentines Day! Please select a box or bag for your child to bring in to collect valentines. Students are welcome to decorate this if they would like. We have 24 students in our class so if your child would like to bring in valentines to pass out please make sure they have enough for everyone.

Friday, February 16th --> Teddy Bear Day! In honor of Theodore Roosevelt students will spend the day participating in different "Teddy" themed activities. Students are welcome to bring in their favorite teddy bear to share with the class. We will wrap up the day with a showing of Night at the Museum.

Thursday, March 8th --> Field Trip to Chattahoochee Nature Center! Student field trip forms were sent home this past Thursday. Please return these as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding this trip please feel free to ask.
