August 14 - 18

What is your child learning this week?
In Math we will continue working to create and read bar graphs with up to three categories. We will also begin looking at picture graphs and tally charts. In Language Arts we will begin out very first phonics unit on L family blends. During Daily 5 we will continue to work on Read to Self and hopefully move into reading with someone. We have accomplished 18 of our 20 min goal! During Writing time we will be learning about our Habit of the Month which is Proactive. Our Science standard for this week will be Weather. On Tuesday students will be taking a Math Inventory Assessment in the Computer Lab. We will use these results and compare to those that students take at the end of year to track their growth. Tuesday we will also take our first visit to the Science Lab.


Homework!
Homework is coming home Monday and should be returned on Friday. You will find the Spelling Words at the top of the homework packet along with the number of questions your child needs to complete (spelling words will also be posted on the left side of this blog each week). Please have your child complete a portion of the homework every night if possible. If for some reason homework is not completed by Friday, please just send in a note. If you have any questions regarding the homework feel free to contact me. I know it will take some getting used to for both parents and students, but I know it will soon become routine :)

August 18th::  All Leader In Me t-shirt money is Due (remember we wear these when we go on field trips)
August 25th: FBI @ 7:15am (Dads come have breakfast with your child and stay for the meeting)
